The Sanford Airport Authority, which owns and operates Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as Vice President of Finance & Chief Financial Officer (CFO). SFB is a commercial service airport located just 18 miles northeast of Orlando. With over 2.87 million annual passengers and a $3.5 billion economic impact, SFB plays a vital role in Central Florida’s economy. The Airport is home to Allegiant Air, Sun Country Airlines, the L3 Harris Airline Academy, and numerous other aviation and government partners. The Authority is implementing major infrastructure improvements including runway extensions and terminal ramp rehabilitation scheduled for completion in 2026.
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Vice President of Finance & CFO is responsible for the strategic direction, planning, and oversight of all financial activities of the Sanford Airport Authority. This includes budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, investment management, grant administration, regulatory compliance, and long-term financial planning.
This position is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and plays a central role in shaping the airport’s capital strategy, supporting revenue growth, and ensuring financial stewardship across all operations.
Lead the Airport’s finance and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP, GASB, FAA, FDOT, and federal/state requirements.
Present financial reports and strategic updates to internal and external stakeholders, including public meetings.
Direct budgeting, forecasting, business planning, treasury management, and capital financing strategies.
Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial systems (Microsoft Dynamics NAV).
Oversee federal and state grant compliance, AIP and PFC program administration, and disaster recovery cost documentation.
Collaborate with financial institutions, auditors, legal counsel, and executive staff to support infrastructure development and operational excellence.
Manage and mentor finance team members, supporting professional growth and cross-functional training.
Serve as a thought leader in leveraging technology to modernize and streamline financial operations.
We are seeking a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and resourceful finance executive with:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred).
A minimum of 5 years as a CFO or equivalent and at least 10 years of progressive finance/accounting experience.
Experience in airport, aviation, or government finance is required.
Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, grant funding administration, and internal controls.
Proven track record of leading complex finance operations and delivering results.
Exceptional communication, analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
A strong commitment to ethical, transparent, and mission-aligned leadership.
Salary: $170,000–$190,000, commensurate with experience.
Florida Retirement System – Senior Management Service Class (SMSC).
