REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for general maintenance and repair of airport facilities, including aircraft hangars, equipment, and infrastructure. Primary duties include welding, basic electrical and plumbing work, carpentry, and light construction. Groundskeeping and landscaping duties are secondary and performed as needed. Airport experience preferred!
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform maintenance and repair tasks on airport facilities, aircraft hangars, and equipment as directed.
2. Conduct routine inspections and upkeep of hangars, including lighting, doors, structure, and utilities.
3. Operate tools and equipment for welding, carpentry, painting, and general facility repair.
4. Assist with basic electrical, HVAC, and plumbing system maintenance.
5. Comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
6. Accurately complete and submit maintenance records and work reports.
7. Respond to maintenance issues caused by wear, weather, vandalism, or user activity, and report significant findings to supervisor.
8. Support landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, and grounds upkeep when assigned.
9. Ensure the safety and proper operation of airfield facilities, public areas, and tenant spaces.
10. Maintain tools, parts inventory, and request replacements as needed.
JOB STANDARDS:
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Experience: Experience in general building maintenance, welding, and basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems. Technical training or certifications preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid Florida Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Welding machines, power and hand tools, utility carts, pressure washers, lifts, ladders, and landscaping equipment.
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE:
11. Ability to safely perform maintenance with tools and equipment for a variety of tasks.
12. Knowledge of welding, basic plumbing, and electrical repair practices.
13. Ability to assess, prioritize, and complete maintenance tasks with minimal supervision.
14. Recordkeeping and inventory management for maintenance-related supplies and parts.
15. Ability to perform physical labor, work at heights, and operate in outdoor and hangar environments.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:
Ability to lift 20 pounds routinely and more than 40 pounds occasionally. Ability to work on ladders, rooftops, and around large mechanical equipment.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Primarily outdoor work with exposure to weather and environmental elements. Work includes interior hangar and building environments.
MARGINAL/SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform other related duties as assigned, including occasional support for groundskeeping and general airport operations.
